Patrick's Fourth Birthday!

Patrick's fourth birthday was "Cars" themed. The Saturday before, we had a water party with his friends. They played in the pool, threw water balloons, and enjoyed cupcakes and presents! He had a great time, and we got everything cleaned up just in time for a big storm to roll in! On his birthday, we spent the day at the zoo, in a big rainstorm. We got a little wet, but the animals were really active, and we always have a good time at the zoo!

Cute girl! Had to bundle up for a cold RAINY day at the zoo!

One of the new, young, elephants who loved playing in the rain. He was about  20 ft away from us!

One of his favorite presents is this magnetic shape  kit. He loves to put together the different designs , and we were really impressed with his spatial reasoning skills when he could automatically copy the designs on the cards.

We love our Patrick boy!

Summer Happenings

Lauren at seven months old. At the time, she was still in size 1 diapers,  a 3 month dress, and newborn size shoes. He is a tiny peanut! But she makes up for it with a big personality. She is always talking to us, she is in a hurry to go places and always see and so what we are doing.

Patrick is the best big brother! He loves for sister to pounce on him, and he makes her laugh all the time! Patrick is way funnier than mom and dad! He will give her a ride up and down the hall on this little car.

Lauren at eight months. She crawls all over the place now. If I run downstairs to to switch the laundry and come back upstairs, she will be in a totally different part of the house. But she jabbers the whole time, so you  can find her pretty easily. She is really close to pulling herself up to furniture or toys. It is SO difficult to changer her diaper! She tries to crawl off the changing pad as soon as you lay her down. But we wouldn't change our baby girl!

Snuggle time! Patrick often asks to snuggle with sister and then asks me to take a picture of them.

So, Lauren loves food. I try to feed her some baby food before we have dinner so that I can eat my dinner, but as soon as we sit down at the table, she can freaks out until I give her some of what we are eating. She only has one tooth, but she eats like she has a mouth full. She ate this entire piece of watermelon, without help. I have no idea how she stays underweight because she eats so much!

We went to the Greeley Stampede Days about an hour and a half north of us. It was a really hot day, but we enjoyed the animals and fair food.

I wish I had a better picture, but these are the pies I made for our Arapahoe County Fair. I was a little nervous to enter, and there was some good competition there, but my apple pie won third place and my cherry pie won the grand prize! I also entered my cross-stitch (the one of Christ), which also one first place! I was so glad I took the time to enter, and I am looking forward to entering some cookies and brownies next year!

Some Pictures of Easter

Our Easter was really low key this year. I want to be that mom that does fun (but not over the top) stuff for each holiday, but in reality, I usually remember the day before said holiday, so my efforts are usually minimal. So my kiddos are cute, even if they aren't in new Easter clothes, and yes, the Easter bunny did leave Patrick's treat in his Halloween bucket. Part of that is because I am too cheap to buy a basket when he has a bunch in the basement. Next year, I do want to start the tradition of hiding the Easter baskets; I think that would be really fun.

Anyway, Reed's parents were out of town, so we invited our new friend Travis and Kina over for Easter dinner. Their kids Gavin and Macey are 5 and 3, so Patrick loves playing with them. Here are a few pictures I got of our day. It was super warm that day, like in the 80s, and then two days later I think it snowed. Love Colorado!

Patrick is a great brother!

"Patrick, smile!"

"Come on buddy, just look at me and smile!"

"Sister, smile at mommy!"

"Seriously mom, are we done?"

The Streak

On a recent warm (but not super hot) day, I went to check on Patrick in the backyard, and while I was inside feeding Lauren, he had stripped naked, turned on the water, and was getting ready to play! I took a picture of his cute little bum and then got his swim suit for him so he could enjoy the water.

Patrick Loves His Sister

Patrick just adores Lauren. He goes in to her room every morning and yells, "Mom, Sister is AWAKE!" He loves to read her stories, and he is always sharing toys with her, even though she can't play with them yet. The best example of his affection is when he lays next to her on the floor and tries to share blankie with her. He loves blankie, and it means a lot if hevwantsvto share with his sister.

Lauren's blessing

Lauren was blessed on January 29, 2012, by her father. She was beautiful, but because we had had a long day, none of the pictures I took turned out very well! I was so excited to use her blessing dress. I sewed her dress in a sewing class at BYU-Idaho, and while I was super excited that Patrick was a boy, I was ready to have a little girl to put in this beautiful dress.

"Mom! Get me out of this dress and feed me already!"

Lauren is here!

Right before we left for the hospital!

Lauren Angela Haight was born on Thursday, December 15, 2011 at 5:35 pm. I knew she would be delivered via c-section because I had full placenta previa, which means the placenta was blocking the birth canal. Most women with placenta previa have to go on bed rest or have other complications, but I was really lucky to not have any complications.

Lauren weighed 6 lbs 11 oz and she was 18 1/2 inches long. I was surprised to see that she had some hair, and it was darker then Patrick's when he was born. She was a beautiful, sweet baby from the very beginning.   Right away she was eating well and sleeping fairly regularly. She loved to snuggle and sleep on my chest.

Our little Christmas baby!

Grandma and Grandpa Haight brought Patrick to meet Lauren the day after she was born. We had talked to him a lot about his baby sister, so he was quite excited to meet her. Just as we thought, he was really excited for about five minutes, and then he just wanted to play with all the buttons on the hospital bed. As a big brother, he has been sweet, loving, and very much in love with his little sister. He loves to hold her and give her kisses.
"Mom, she has a little tiny nose!"
"Aww, she is so cute!"
