Newborn Pictures

Today we got Patrick's newborn pictures back. We have a good friend, Hattie Bates, who offered to give us some free pictures since Reed gives her so much free advertising. He tells anyone who is pregnant or recently had a baby about how wonderful she is. And she is a great photographer. Patrick was only 5 days old when we took these pictures, and he did a really good job and was well behaved.

I also took a few pictures today because I thought it would be fun to compare his newborn pictures to today, when he is 7 weeks old. Patrick is starting to smile a lot more, and he has even laughed a couple of times. Tonight he rolled over from his stomach to his back in both directions. I wasn't even trying to get him to roll over, he just got enough momentum going!

Happy Birthday to me

Monday was my 22nd birthday. I spent the morning in Idaho Falls with my grandma and went to lunch with her at the Olive Garden. I'm really glad that I was able to spend that time with grandma Carol because she is moving this week to Pennsylvania and I don't know when I will be able to see her again. She is a wonderful grandma, and we are all very happy that she came into our family, and Reed and I are sad to see her go, but her kids will love seeing her more often I'm sure.

That night our good friends Jordan and Bethany came over for birthday dinner and cake. We had steak, corn on the cob, and funeral potatoes (we should rename them birthday potatoes because we make them for birthdays and rarely for funerals). Reed got me Harry Potter 5 (the movie) and The Little Mermaid and some sweet treats. It was a nice day with my family and friends.

More Pictures

Patrick will be six weeks old tomorrow, and I took some pictures this morning while he was awake and mostly happy. Enjoy!

Sleepy Time

Daddy cuddle time!

Patrick always sleeps better when someone is holding him, but he will usually nap okay if I lay him on the couch. I even vacuumed right next to him today and he didn't even stir!

One Month Old

Patrick is one month old today. He is awake more now and a lot more alert. This week he has been a little more cranky, but we think he is growing and it has been quite hot lately, which also seems to make him cranky. Most of the time he is a very lovely baby though. Happy one month birthday Patrick!

A New Do

I got my hair cut yesterday morning and I love it. All I had to do this morning was blow it dry, and I was ready for the day.

Wiggle worm

Our little boy is very wiggly, although I don't really see it. When I went to get him yesterday morning, he had scooted down and ran into the side of the crib. I don't know how he wiggles around so much already, but he does!

First Baseball Game

On Tuesday night, we went to a baseball game with a bunch of couples from our ward. It was BYU-IDAHO Alumni night, so we were able to get free tickets. The Idaho Falls Chuckars played the Ogden Raptors, and it was a great night for a ball game, even if the Chuckars did lose. Patrick seemed to enjoy his first baseball game, as much as he could. He wasn't fussy at all, and there were lots of volunteers around to keep him entertained.

Moving Out

Patrick slept in his own room last night! We don't have the crib put together quite yet, but we set up the port-a-crib and used that (thanks Mom!). Of course Patrick did just fine sleeping on his own. I doubt he could even tell the difference. And it was actually a lot easier for me that I anticipated. Patrick is doing a pretty good job sleeping now. He is doing a lot better at going back to sleep after he eats, which allows me to get a lot more sleep.

He's Awake!

This afternoon we got some funny pictures of Patrick where he actually has his eyes open. The pictures are pretty darn cute!

Our Non-schedule

So, I figured that Patrick's one good night was going to be a fluke. He seems to still have his day and night mixed up, which I think is still normal, but I am having to hardest time getting him into any sort of schedule. I have only been at it for like 5 days, so I'm not giving up yet, but I'm really hoping I can see some progress in the next week or two. It's not just at night. I can't seem to get him on a schedule during the day yet either. He will do a 3-hour eating/awake/nap schedule twice, and then he will get super tired and sleep for like 4-5 hours (with a drowsy feeding in the middle). So I can usually start the day out well, but then he throws the routine out the window, so he never seems to go to sleep at the same time, which means he wakes up during the night at different times. I'm starting to become frustrated, but I realize that he is still only 3 1/2 weeks old and this will take awhile, but does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can help progress his schedule and get him to eat at the same time each night?
